Nissan Electric Car 2010

Nissan has indicated its intent to make electric cars a reality on Britain’s roads in the near future with the launch of a four-month feasibility programme into their use and manufacture in the northeast. Carlos Ghosn, chief executive of Nissan, recently said in a statement that Nissan is aiming to launch an electric car in the Japanese and US market by 2010. Nissan aims to offer their electric cars globally by 2012, in their long term plan. In this world of rising gas prices and pollution, Nissan Electric Cars would also be able to meet the stricter fuel-economy standards in developed nations through this initiative. Nissan, which plans to launch its first zero emission electric vehicles in Japan and the US next year, said the study represented an important step in the potential launch of electric vehicles in the UK in the near future. Nissan has also plans to develop subcompact electric cars powered by self-developed lithium-ion batteries. With this Nissan has now become the first Japanese automaker to announce their plans to develop and sell mass market, all-electric vehicles globally. This would put them in direct competition with domestic rivals Honda and Toyota both of which are already selling hybrid cars in Japan and USA. Nissan already reached similar agreements in Japan, Israel, Denmark and Portugal. The company plans to release electric cars in both Japan and the USA in 2010.
The Nissan Pivo 2 offers a collection of technologies, which at the moment might seem a bit far fetched, but will soon be a normal part of our everyday lives. The Pivo 2 comes equipped with an ultra-thin electric motor that delivers twice the power of a standard electric motor. It has four total motors, one on each wheel, and together, they can provide about the same amount of torque as V8 engine and the power of a subcompact vehicle. It also comes with a brand new laminated lithium-ion battery that is the same size as a standard battery, but provides twice as much capacity.
Electric power from Nissan's advanced Lithium-ion batteries
A robotic agent to share every trip
'Revolutionary' technology with 360 degree turning cabin and 90 degree turning wheels
The 106-inch-long Pivo (the name comes from the fact that it pivots) also has a cleverly packaged, electric all-wheel-drive chassis and tiny outboard cameras to give state-of-the-art, 360-degree visibility. Its oh-so-cute styling is Nissan's deliberate attempt to attract young, Japanese girls, whom they hope will gush and say the design is kawaii, or cute. The Pivo 2 can turn 360 degrees thanks to its incredibly ingenious geometrical design. The cabin fits 3 people, which is not shabby for this very tiny vehicle. And most importantly, it comes with a little robot helper, RA, a being who’s sole existence is to improve the state of mind of the driver. This little robot friend can infer what the driver is feeling thanks to facial and voice-recognition software. The future, it seems, will not only be greener, but cuter as well. Pivo 2 takes the idea of an environmentally friendly electric urban commuter vehicle and delivers fun, functionality and a unique relationship between the car and driver. Pivo 2 is powered by advanced Compact Lithium-ion Batteries and employs 'by-wire' technologies for braking and steering.
